In June 2024 TDIA sent out expressions of interest to take part in a “Stakeholder Reference Group" to review and provide input into the current Farm Dairy Premises Effluent Management Code of Practice, and how this could be improved to better serve the users of the Code.

After consultation with the group the draft Farm Dairy Premises Effluent Management Code of Practice was approved and then forwarded to the Minister in June 2025 for their approval. The fee increase is effective from 1 August 2025.

The Primary Produce Safety (Dairy) Regulations 2024, developed under Section 9 of the Primary Produce Safety Act 2011 (“the PPSA”) came into effect, and as a result the TDIA are now regulating under this Act.

On 20th December 2023 Hon Jo Palmer, Minister for Primary Industries and Water, appointed Mr Grant Archer to the Board of TDIA as a Member with wide practical knowledge of the dairy farming industry, selected from nominations submitted by an organization representing dairy farmers, for a period of 3 years.

In 2022, the Board of TDIA engaged Dr Lloyd Klumpp to undertake a review of the Authority, including its governance and regulatory frameworks and to provide recommendations for improvements to the Tasmanian dairy food safety system. Dr Klumpp consulted with the Board, staff, and stakeholders across the industry to inform his review and recommendations.
